Curriculum
RH Cono Christian Day School utilizes the literature-based Sonlight Christian Homeschool Curriculum. We aim to bring the very best of the family homeschool and academic classroom models into one learning environment. Under the instruction and mentorship of our teachers, students will learn in a loving and joyful Christian context.
This school year the students will be studying Ancient to Modern World History, connecting the flow of human history from creation through the present. Bible, Literature, and History will all tie together providing a sweeping overview of this period. Language Arts will focus on grammar, narrative writing, analytical writing, research, and oral presentations. Science will focus on Conservation, Robotics and Technology. Math will be age appropriate. In addition, we will continue to offer choir, which meets two days a week.
Paige and I homeschooled our three kids through the 9th and 10th grades. We used the Sonlight curriculum and were extremely pleased. All three of our kids went on to graduate school in Education, Medicine, and Seminary. I remember when our middle son called from college saying that he was considering changing majors as he wanted to be a medical doctor. We reminded him that he did not have many science courses under his belt, and it was already too late for him to get into the pre-med track without going extra semesters. I will never forget his response: “Dad, you’re right, I haven’t taken a lot of science classes. But, in homeschooling we learned to love to read, to learn, and how to study. I can do it.” And do it he did—without having to stay any extra semesters. I have never been so thankful for the years we invested in their schooling that gave our kids their love of learning and friendships that are lasting a lifetime. That is our desire for RH Cono.
