Ridge Haven would not exist without people like you! Over the years, hundreds of dedicated individuals have generously offered their time and efforts into building and maintaining this peaceful, God-breathed environment. Who will step up next? Below we have various service opportunities listed. Check them out and let us know how you can serve!

Service Camps

For youth groups, we offer Service Camp, a budget-friendly camp where Junior and Senior Highers work together on a landscaping project for 3-4 hours each morning. During the rest of the day, they get to have fun enjoying all the activities of our regular camps.

Volunteer Camp Nursing

Ridge Haven is looking for volunteer Registered Nurses (RN’s) to serve at this summer's camps in both Brevard, NC or Walker, Iowa. Volunteers can opt to serve one or more weeks of camp, depending on need and availability. They will be provided with lodging and meals as well as scholarships for up to two children to attend camp while they are serving with us. For those coming from out of state, we will also pay for any required North Carolina licenses if necessary. If you are a registered nurse or doctor and are interested in ministering to our campers for a week or more this summer, please contact us at ridgehaven@ridgehaven.org.

RV Mission Projects

For years, Ridge Haven has been blessed by those who have come to our campus and set up shop with their RV's to serve. For those looking to spend some time around our ministry and do short-term RV missions with us, contact us for more information.

Adult Service Groups

For adult groups committed to working longer hours (normally eight hours a day), we have several important projects available that will provide essential services for both present and future generations. For $25 a day per person, we can offer both lodging and camp-style meals (or retreat meals for an increased price), just enough to cover our actual costs. If you prefer, for a reduced rate you can cook your own meals in one of our lodge kitchens. Kids 12 years old and under with adult groups are $15 a day.

Normally, for non-specialized groups, we ask that you donate the amount for the basic materials to cover your projects. Below are some sample projects and costs. Please contact us if you are interested or would like additional information.

Tree Clearing
Ridge Haven offers gorgeous mountain views, and we want to make sure everyone can enjoy them! Skilled loggers and/or lumberjacks are needed to clear out trees around our campus and provide unobstructed views of God's beautiful creation.

What's required:

  • About 120 man hours

  • Between $300-$500 in costs

Basic Landscaping
Our guests deserve a first-class experience -- that's why we need small groups of dedicated helpers to care for our existing landscaped areas. This will include cleaning up and mulching essential spots such as our rope courses, climbing tower, playgrounds, and bunkhouses.

What's required:

  • 4-6 people for around 2-4 days

  • About $150 a day

Underground Gutters
Like getting your hands dirty? Then you're just who we're looking for! Our underground gutters need to be cleaned and possibly replaced. This important task will help us to maintain our buildings and continue to be good stewards of the facilities God has given us.

What's required:

  • 6-10 people for a 3-day project

  • Around $500 in total cost

Trail Improvements
There's nothing quite like a hike through our nature trails! Unfortunately, winter storms often wreak havoc on these scenic pathways. That's where you come in. We need small, spirited teams willing to clear and ready these trails, as well as repair and construct rest benches, for our visitors year-round. Wood can be pre-cut here at Ridge Haven.

What's required:

  • Around $300 in total cost

General Campus Maintenance

Given the amount of people that we see come through Ridge Haven, there is a lot of wear and tear on our campus facilities. There is always something to do. This could include developing new trails, splitting fire wood, etc.

What's Required:

  • Anywhere from 6-20 people for 5-10 days

  • Negligible costs

Wood Cabin

Here’s an opportunity to help build up our ministry -- literally! We are looking to build another wood cabin for our staff. The cabin would be approximately 400 sq. ft. Work needed includes putting in the foundation, framing, roofing, electrical, plumbing, finishing, deck work, staining, and sealing.

What's required:

  • Approximately $15,000 in costs

  • 4-10 people

Roofing
We strive to keep our accommodations in prime condition. Perhaps you can help us? Several of our buildings are in need of new metal roofs. Your group’s main task would be installing and screwing down the metal for the roofs, which is already cut to length.

What's required:

  • Average cost of $5,000-$7,000

  • 4 or more people

Keyes Summit Benches
Keyes Summit’s majestic views make it one of the most popular spots on our campus. We want to ensure more people than ever can gather together there amid God’s natural wonders. In order to accomplish this goal, we need a small team to construct new wood benches that would increase the seating at Keyes Summit’s open-air amphitheater from 50 to 200.

What's required:

  • Approximately $1,500-$1,800 in costs

  • 4 or more people
